Svantovit (other spellings / names: Svantevit, Sveti Vid, Swantewit, Sventevit, Svetovit, Svatovit, Świętowit or Святовит) is a Slavic deity. He is the god of war, fertility and abundance, who was worshiped especially on the island of Rügen until the 12th century. Svantevit is the supreme deity of the Ranen on the island of Rügen and some other Elbe and Baltic Sea Slavs, comparable to the supreme god Perun. Slavic deities often have multiple heads. Svantovit is four-headed, each head looks in one direction. Each direction is assigned a color: the north is white, the west is red, the south is black and the east is green.
He was venerated on the island of Rügen in Germany by the Slavic inhabitants, in particular as an oracle donor.
On the Wolin peninsula Poland an amulet of 6 cm was found, after which this pendant was made.
