In the Nordic mythology not only living people have names, but also special objects. Like Thor's hammer. His name is Mjöllnir, which means something like "lightning", "shining weapon".

With this hammer Thor fights against the Thursen (giants) and the Midgard serpent and thus protects the people from harm. Fighting the ice giants protects the fields from hail in spring / summer, for example, and gives people rich harvests.
