In Norse mythology not only living people have names, but also special objects. Like Thor's hammer. His name is Mjöllnir, which means something like "lightning", "shining weapon".
With this hammer Thor fights against the Thursen (giants) and the Midgard serpent and thus protects the people from harm. Fighting the ice giants protects the fields from hail in spring / summer, for example, and gives people rich harvests.
In the graves of Birka in Sweden, small and larger Thor's hammers can be found in women's graves and in some cases 3 or more were carried on chains.
In this larger version, the hammer is very suitable as a single piece on a chain or as a center.
