Beaded Necklace Based on Find from Grave 463, Birka (Sweden)
This handcrafted replica is based on archaeological finds from Grave 463 at the Viking Age settlement of Birka, an important trading center dating from the 8th to 10th century on Lake Mälaren in Sweden.
The original grave assemblage included:
silver foil beads
gold foil beads
a yellow glass bead
This necklace has been created in accordance with these finds and follows the documented originals in terms of color, shape, and materials. The beads are strung on a durable thread and are suitable both for historical interpretation (reenactment/living history) and as a distinctive piece of jewelry with an authentic archaeological background.
